We came out of the bookstore yesterday to find this on the truck.
The truck? It's an ugly beater so the scratch isn't exactly devastating.

Proof that there is hope for humanity
Updating Blog Template
You may have noticed that I went through about 30 variations on blogger templates today. I'm still not satisfied with the results, but then I'm still learning, too. I suppose I would be a little more adept at this if I'd just break down and take a class or two on web design, but I much prefer banging my head against the wall. There's something about finding a solution after trying 48 other possible variations that is so much more satisfying than just knowing what will work in the first place.

My biggest laugh of the week
I feel vindicated.
I heard a yelp from the other room so I ran to find out what happened. It turns out that Mr. H discovered the hard way that he had left the toilet seat up.

Eastlake Bar & Grill, Seattle
This morning we took a walk down Eastlake Avenue and stopped for lunch at Eastlake Bar and Grill. I've been wanting to check out this place for quite a while.
The deck sprawls around the exterior of the building, taking advantage of every inch of view; there is a rooftop lounge as well. We were the only souls willing to brave the weather to enjoy the deck, but I have no regrets. The service was spot on even though we were far from the less adventurous patrons opting to eat indoors.
Aaron selected the chicken club sandwich, I stole a bite and it was wonderful. My prime rib french dip retained a bit of pink in the meat, which was very juicy. It was topped with provalone and a horsradish sauce that could have used a little more bite, but very flavorful nonetheless. The ciabatta bread used for both sandwiches was light and flavorful, and the french fries were just out of the fat.
I'm looking forward to returning to check out the dinner service.

The Art of Avoiding Homework, or What's Your Favorite Breakfast?
I've spent most of my day avoiding doing my homework. Posting to my blog seemed like a nice productive way to rationalize not doing my homework, but then writing a post seemed an awful lot like homework. So instead I'll post a meme I found on Karen's blog at Do Better.
You Are Cheerios |
Like other Cheerios eaters, you want to be a responsible adult. But you can't help but still be a kid at heart! You try to make good decisions. You're a clean cut, conscientious person. You're the type of person who would never skip breakfast. Part of you thinks that breakfast is too important to miss... But a bigger part of you knows it's too fun to miss! |

Give your eyes a break
I spent a good 20 minutes just watching the clouds today. I had things to do, places to be, people I needed to talk to, but I left the phone inside and just went out and sat and looked and appreciated.
I feel much saner now.

Cambozola: a little wedge of heaven
Cambozola is my new favorite cheese. To my untrained palate it tastes like the love-child of brie and bleu cheese.
I made a salad with arugula, spinach, apples and pecans with a raspberry vinagarette. It needed something else so I added chunks of cambozola.
Oh my goodness.
Heaven.
