Hatchers Pass
While we're really here to spend time with the family and as much time with Dad as we can, we took a time out today. We borrowed Dad's truck and drove up to Hatchers Pass to check out the old mines and maybe see some wildlife. It was a very cold, drizzly day but we managed to get some great pictures anyways.

Count Your Blessings
Since Dad got sick, Mom's been going through a downsizing mode. She is seriously getting rid of just about everything.
She asked me if I could do something with the family pictures because she had never had time to put them into albums. "Sure" I said. It sounded like a good idea. I'll just scan them in and upload them to the family website.
Box after box after box has been ariving in the mail.
It's great fun to sit there and go through photo after photo. but somehow, when I add the additional step of placing the photo onto the scanner, it turns into a chore.
I know it's such a cool thing to have all these photos - many families dont have this many. And really, on the surface it sounds like such a cool project - and I'm looking forward to having the photos scanned in. It's the actual scanning them in part that's got me bogged down.
Maybe I need to move the computer and scanner into the living room so I can watch mythbusters while I'm scanning them in.

5 things
my husband has so many varied interests it just blows me away. instead of focusing on me, here's a meme of five things about my husband...
- he is studying middle eastern history and cultures and he speaks several languages including spanish, farsi, arabic, and he is currently learning tajik
- when he took the spanish language test in the army, he scored so high they turned around and made him take an english test to make sure he knew how to speak english.
- he plays bagpipes
- he trains in brazilian jiu jitsu
- the one place on earth he wants to visit more than anywhere else is Iran
Sometimes i feel so plain next to him - i like photography and reading and cooking... but life with him is such a wild ride. he's so much fun and i never know what he's going to come up with next.
