CoffeeJitters' New Home at CoffeeJitters.net/blog

For my birthday last week, I went out and bought myself a domain name. I am now the proud owner of CoffeeJitters.net. Yay! I've been meaning to do this for a very long time.

I am porting all of the past posts, and all of your lovely comments, over to my blog's new home at CoffeeJitters.net/blog, and then I will be putting the blogspot version of this blog to sleep.

There is quite a bit of work to do on the new blog, and the heavy construction won't get started till after school ends the first week of December. In the meantime, I will continue to post as my schedule allows to the new location at CoffeeJitters.net/blog.

Information for Subscribers:

  • People who subscribe to CoffeeJitters by email should see no difference in their service.
  • For those of you who subscribe through an RSS reader, the Feedburner feed will port over to the new location so there is no need to make any changes.
  • The Atom feed, however, will go to sleep with the blogspot blog.
  • If you're not sure whether you subscribed to the Feedburner or the Atom feed, please just resubscribe using the feed button near the top of the page at CoffeeJitters.net/blog.
  • If this is all entirely too confusing for you and you don't know what to do, leave me a comment and I'll see what I can do to clarify the issue.
And just for the sake of redundancy: the new address for the blog is CoffeeJitters.net/blog

Arte y Pico Award

I've been blessed with another award and I want to send out a big thank you to Sydney at Diapers and Deadlines: Musings of a Media Mom for giving me this honor. I really enjoy reading her blog.

Here are the rules: (If you already have the award just accept and that's all you have to do.)

1. You have to pick 5 blogs you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.
4. The award winner and one who has given the prize have to show the link "Arte y Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. Show these rules.

If someone beat me to the punch and you have already received this award, there is no need for you to do anything.

Here are my winners:

  1. Janece at No Ordinary Moment - because she takes my breath away with her gorgeous photos of the Pacific Northwest
  2. Tricia at Shout - because her blog is so much fun to read and she has inspired me with some new ideas for my own blog
  3. Trisha at Ideas for Women - because I always learn something new reading her posts
  4. Michelle at Bleeding Espresso - because I love reading her blog and Mr. H and I are still dreaming of packing up and moving to Europe once we finish school
  5. Apple at Apple Joos - because I look forward to reading her posts every day

I Win!

Thank you to Kendra from Nest Half Empty for giving me my first award!

Once an award is received, the rules are as follows:
1. Put the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Nominate at least seven other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.

The nominating part is very difficult. How do I narrow this down to just seven nominations? I've got hundreds of wonderful blogs backed up in my reader and I'm supposed to pick seven...

Ok here goes...
My nominations, in no particular order:

Jen from Arent You Glad You're Not Me because her naughty sock monkeys are just too cute and funny

Sydney from Diapers and Deadlines: Musings of a Media Mom because I thoroughly enjoy reading her stories

Asthma Girl from Is My Cape Fluttering whom I just discovered and I'm so glad I did because I really enjoy this blog

Teri at Let Me Think On It even though I'm insanely jealous that she gets to go to a taping of David Letterman

Scargosun because her blog is so much fun

Kimba at a soft place to land because I love watching her transform items that look tired and worn out into something beautiful.

Romi at It is what it is another recent find and a wonderful storyteller

Ok everyone, run out and visit these wonderful blogs. And leave comments too!

Google Search Terms

Every once in a while a visit to Google Analytics will provide some data that I'm not quite sure how to process

Here's a sample of search terms that turned up for CoffeeJitters:

  • how to get rid of coffee jitters (ahem, seriously people!)
  • shooting dad
  • did you lose something
  • its business night
  • happy hour
  • left over cake
  • what happened to la dolce vita
  • pictures of fat brides (ouch!)
  • seattle rutabaga
Some of these make sense. Some of these, I've decided I don't really want to figure them out.

Has Google Analytics (or Woopra or whatever other tool you use) turned up anything that blew your mind?

rssHugger

I am thinking of trying out a new rss feed listing service, rssHugger. I'm curious to see if it will help increase the readership of this blog.

However, I find this policy to be rather suspect.

To be accepted into rssHugger, you must make a blog review about the site.
After completion of the review, please login to your
rssPanel
and go to the fourth tab (Edit my feeds), and you may setup how your blog is
displayed, as well as the URL for which we will find the rssHugger review.

How can one be expected to write an honest review of a service or product prior to being able to use it?

I'm not Blogger's biggest fan right now

I've reverted back to my old format. I changed to the new format on Saturday night/Sunday morning and for some reason, suddenly today, blogger decided to freak out and it could no longer read my code. My blog has been down for most of the day.

Oh yes I know there are bigger, faster, sexier blog services out there, and someday I expect I'll have me a bigger, faster, sexier blog, with tassels and a bell. But those things take resources like time, money, and know-how and at the moment I seem to be strapped for all three.

so instead, I give you this pretty picture I took on Sunday afternoon.

Updating Blog Template

You may have noticed that I went through about 30 variations on blogger templates today. I'm still not satisfied with the results, but then I'm still learning, too. I suppose I would be a little more adept at this if I'd just break down and take a class or two on web design, but I much prefer banging my head against the wall. There's something about finding a solution after trying 48 other possible variations that is so much more satisfying than just knowing what will work in the first place.
