We had another doctors visit on Friday. The schedule said we were just supposed to listen to the baby's heartbeat with a special microphone. Nothing. After several minutes of pushing the microphone around on my belly and not hearing a bit of the baby's heartbeat, the doctor decided to do a sonogram anyways. It was a long wait while the doctor went down the hall to get the portable sonogram machine. Then we had to wait for it to boot up. But as soon as the picture started to materialize on the screen, we could see all kinds of bouncing, kicking and arms waving. Not just a heartbeat - we've got an active baby in there.
I, on the other hand, have not been so active. I'm promised that in the second trimester I'll get my energy back. In the meantime, I have to squeeze 12 hours of rest into anything else I manage to accomplish on any given day. I'm already a little behind in school this quarter, but I'm determined to get back on my game. I think it will be at least another month before I get back into the swing of things with managing the blog and commenting. But, aside from the fatigue and the homework and a house in desperate need of cleaning, I'm doing really well.

OK Where the heck have i been? Oh ya in a total funk! CONGRATS! Get your rest while you can.
Yeah...Thanks for letting us know...take care of yourself...we will all just wait for you. Rest up ...you will be a busy Mama!
I was holding my breath there for a minute! So glad everything is alright! NO worries on the blog :) We will be here waiting when you have time! Pregnancy, especially the first time around is very draining when you don't know what to expect! Have a great week! :)
Wishing you lots of rest.
I hate those long minutes waiting for the machine to boot up. I am so glad all is, OK! Thanks for the update!
So the first 12 weeks are so tiring! You do get an energy burst half way through but prepare to be tired again towards the end. I highly recommend leaving work/school/other commitments at least 3 weeks before you are due if you can afford it. It's not just being tired its the mental prep also.
Oh yea, and CONGRATS!
Thanks for letting us know you are still around, I agree with everyone about relaxing and taking care of yourself ... just drop a line and let us know you are well. And the first twelve weeks are mentally, physically, and emotionally draining.
Oh, and is there a contest where we get to help name the baby? Because I am thinking Joe Jitters.
Joe Jitters! Hmm. . . . that would be fun!
My first two hid from the doppler when it was time to hear their heartbeats. So that's what I thought you were talking about here. Apparently it was a lot scarier than that . . . sorry!
Rest well dear coffee mama!
Yes, the drains. That might be the only thing I don't miss about pregnancy. It does take its toll.
I hope you'll be feeling more energetic in no time!
Awesome to hear things are going well!
Take care!
Not bad for being diagnosed as an Elderly pregnancy Huh! But you are doing great Love ya

YAY for a good checkup and active baby! Get all the rest you can. Take naps. You need to conserve all your energy. Once that baby gets there, you'll need it!
