Canon Beach, Oregon 2003
Mr. H and Rufus. I had forgotten to pack any toys for Rufus, so Mr. H took one of his socks and filled it with sand. It amazes me sometimes how the simplest things make the best toys. The $40 toy for your toddler is no match for the box it came in.
It was on this weekend that I realized that I was in love with the man who was to become my husband (although I didn't know about the husband part yet). I knew that this was something real, something special, and something that was going to last a very long time.

Judy...that is so sweet and so very true!
I bet chewing on a sand sock is a great way to remove tartar buildup.
Very nice photo! I love the lighting!
What a beautiful post!!!! And a very nice pic too!
that's so sweet :)
Beautiful memory to go with a beautiful photo! (And you're so right about the toy and the box!)
Where oh where is this gorgeous beach?
What a beatiful post.
What a wonderful picture to have capturing that moment in time. I bet this one pic brings back all sorts of memories and feelings.
Awww how sweet!!!!!
Any guy who will give up a sock for a dog is a definite keeper! Great photo!
It's so true that those simple acts of kindness or thoughtfulness can really make an impression!! Love the beach.
Great! Love this!
What would have happened if he had used your sock? :)
Awwww...just beautiful and simple and sweet.
What a smart idea and you are so right about the box a toy came in being better than the toy itself yet we keep buying them.
How wonderful to have a photo to go with such a wonderful time of your life...falling in love.
So very sweet!
That is AWESOME! I remember when I first realized I was in love with my husband. We were at a baseball game and I opened the door of his BRAND NEW car into another car denting it. He jumped out and left the car running and his doors locked. Locked doors, running car and dented door and instead of being mad, he kissed me while I tried to apologize.
ahhhh...that was sweet...and you're right...my toddlers loved the wrapping paper and the box!
What a sweet story! Such a nice picture!
That is so sweet! That beach is so pretty- where is it?
that's so sweet!!!
Its great to have pictures that bring back good memories!

Oh my, you've commented on the same blogs that I have this morning. You've also had some of my exact same thoughts which is scary seeing as how we don't know eachother. Looking forward to seeing you some more on blogger. I love your post. I recall the exact moment I fell in love with my husband too. It was like I had been hit with a bat and my life put on fast forward. I couldn't shake a picture in my head of he together just like that day but 50 years from then. Who knows, maybe it was just because we were walking through an antique store at the time. Hahahahaha!
Very very sweet. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This is a wonderful post! It's amazing the simple things that mean so much.
Rufus looks like a spunky pup! I bet he's fun to have around! Great photo!
What a great pic and a great story. Men always look sexier playing with a dog too....or a kid...why is that?
I agree with everyone else! So wonderful!
That's a nice story, and it's so true. Dogs and kids are so alike in a surprising number of ways.
Nice picture of your boys!
